When I even do this I first have to forgive myself for closing the door and keeping all that I learned during those years locked away.  I've learned so many things as I embarked on my career in Real Estate, but I somehow have struggled and failed miserably to successfully integrate those two lives.  So, when I checked the email account today I came across a news letter from the director at The Center for Courage and renewal.  Below are some very important words I want to share with you from that news letter.  I wish I were as eloquent. After the meeting and all night and day I have been upset as to the way the meeting ended.  In an effort to gain information, I was inquisitive and apparently offensive.  I realize now that it appeared to them that I was not listening to their concerns.  As a result, I have decided to require all of my agents to attend a training session for first time home buyers.  It is important for the agents to understand these buyers no little or nothing at all about buying a home and care must be given as well as attention to detail. Apparently, we must revisit lessons in life constantly in order to continue being the person we strive to be.  Emily Dickinson has always been one of my favorite writer/poets.  Since I am now an owner of a real estate firm     ( Weichert, Realtors-Palmetto Coast) instead of an English Teacher, I find I am not living the writerly life and do not take time to read the types of literature that stretch my mind.  For most of my adult life, I have been a reflective person.  The past several years I have been absorbed in the world of managing a real estate office.  I enjoy this work, but have, of late felt much like a failure at the job.  The market for our profession has been dismal at best.  The hours are grueling and with little fruit for the results.  Most days I get up and work a 10 hour day for free.  Because of the miserable state I have found myself in as of late, I have begun to search for some relief.  This morning I realized (as I have numerous times, but keep forgetting) the source of my misery was from the lack of attention to doing the things I love.  Because if that, I have decided to begin using this blog as my "Morning Pages" so aptly named by Julia Cameron.  This will be a &lt;span style="font-style:italic;"&gt;living out loud&lt;/span&gt; page about the trials and tribulations, as well as, the elation I experience each day as I run my company.  I hope to have followers that are interested in understanding more about what it is really like to be in the real estate business as a sales associate.  There are many misconceptions about what we do. I hope this new direction will accomplish my goal of educating the public as to why it is important to work with a Realtor.  Additionally, I want to add quotes, experiences, and writing that will enhance the reader's life and help them experience more joy in that life.  I will be the very first to benefit because I will be writing again-which is "what I want to be when I grow up"! The House of Representatives will have an opportunity to correct point of sale by passing H.3272 when it comes before the House. H.3272 was passed by the House Ways and Means Committee on March 26th and will move to the floor of the House for consideration this week.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;H.3272, introduced by Representatives Cooper and Merrill, eliminates point of sale assessments and puts property tax reassessment back on the five-year cycle that existed prior to the property tax reform package that became law in 2006. Passing H.3272 and sending it to the Senate for consideration is a vital step in ensuring that point of sale is addressed this year.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Please contact your Representative immediately and urge them to support H.3272 and keep the bill moving forward. I know the agents that managed to stay focused and complete transactions are better agents for it.  They are stronger and more self assured.  That, I would have to say, is the silver-lining in an otherwise dismal cloud.  Weichert, Realtors- Palmetto Coast posted the best numbers in the offices 3 year history since becoming a Weichert office. Dismal is one word I have heard often to describe it. Yet, many real estate transactions have taken place and the real estate professionals I have watched over that time period have taught me one important lesson: The professionals that take their job seriously are still making a good living. I have noticed that it is the ones that seem to have time to sit around and cry in there spilled milk that are finding the business tough. I have witnessed several new agents get motivated and follow the systems we teach at Weichert, Realtors Dean- Kelby take off with a very respectable business. So, I challenge you to make 2008 a great real estate year for all of you.
